Character Interview with Armando Verdad of Psychic Lies

Character Interview with Armando Verdad of Psychic Lies

Today, I would like to welcome Armando Verdad, hero of Psychic Lies. Thank you for coming to chat with us today, Armando. Why do you think Sara Daniel choose you to represent her?
As the head of the Department of Truth-Finding for Syndicate (which is the government of the paranormal world for you humans out there), I am well-qualified to articulate myself. And honestly, I can’t afford to pass up any positive coverage to boost my department’s image right now.

Tell us a little about yourself?
As you might have figured out, I have the truth-finding power. This means when I touch a person who is speaking, their words mentally play back in my head followed by the word “truth” or “lie.” If the person speaks a sentence that is half truth and half lie, my power will break it into parts so I know exactly what part is truth and which is a lie. This makes me a very useful investigator for the government in solving crimes and ferreting out those who aim to deceive our honest citizens.

What do you wish people would know about you?
I wish people understood how much I want to use my power for the greater good of keeping the Syndicate safe. It’s true that I don’t have Cyrus’s amazing retro-cog power, but I can still make a difference, and I intend to prove it by cracking this high-profile murder case before the police do. I’m following the victim’s lifebond vetter to the Wiccan Haus. She’s definitely hiding something, and I’m going to figure out exactly what and bring her to justice.

I get the feeling you don’t believe you’re portrayed fairly in the media?
I have a problem with everyone believing the Department of Truth-Finding is not capable of solving crimes and protecting the Syndicate. Everyone constantly wants to compare me to Cyrus. It’s very frustrating to continually come up short.

What really pushes your buttons?
People not telling the truth, obviously. But aside from the big lies to cover up evil intentions, I don’t understand why people lie about insignificant things that don’t matter either way. How do I know which lies are worth digging into when everything that comes out of a person’s mouth is a lie?

Sounds like you need to relax a bit. Any ideas on how to go about that?
Well, if I’m lucky enough to have a woman to relax with, I enjoy a picnic with some exotic fruit, a variety of cheeses and a fine white wine. I’m not opposed to finishing the meal off with a nice massage or a swim in the lake (clothing *ah-hem* optional), but ultimately it’s whatever the lady wants. If she’s happy, then I’m relaxed.

What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear is the Syndicate dissolving the Department of Truth Finding, so I’ll be forced to use my power to investigate cheating spouses and petty concerns. How does that serve the greater good?

Thank you, Armando, for dropping by to talk with us today. I hope your trip to the Wiccan Haus gives you the answers you’re looking for.

Psychic Lies

What if you could read minds during sex? What if the government wanted to exploit you for your ability?

Fiona Vetter has spent her life hiding her sexual mind-reading power, pretending to have normal, safe powers like the rest of her family. When her charade results in the death of an innocent woman, her life of lies unravels. With nowhere else to turn, she retreats to the Wiccan Haus.

To expose her as an enemy of his government, Armando Verdad follows Fiona to the Wiccan Haus. Her beauty dazzles him, her personality seduces him, and her web of lies intrigues him. But with his career and the safety of his countrymen on the line, only the truth matters.

The harder Fiona tries to keep Armando away, the more she falls for him. When enemies come searching for her, she is forced to trust him to protect her life and her psychic lies, but nothing can protect her heart.

Fiona dropped her fork. How could her soul have picked him for her mate? The Fates played cruel jokes, and, once again, they did so at her expense. “The vetter was trying her best.”

“Her best to do what?” He gripped her arm a bit tighter.

“To be a vetter.” By the Goddess, she’d tried so hard. Her failure had cost an innocent woman her life.

He rubbed his hand along her arm, his face breaking into a smile again. “You know, I believe you’re right.”

A fat lot of good that did for Lizbet. She dropped her gaze to his hand. “Why are you always touching me?” She didn’t know him well enough to warrant the constant contact, but pleasure sizzled under her skin at his touch. She didn’t deserve to enjoy anything.

He smiled wider. “I can’t stop myself. You feel the connection, don’t you?”

She couldn’t have a connection to a man who scorned people who didn’t use their powers for the greater good, not when she’d built the foundation of her life on denying her true powers. “I’m actually not a tactile person.”

After speaking such a big lie, she couldn’t continue to look him in the eye, not with all her powers concentrated in the most intimate tactile experience possible.

His grin split wider. “I’d love the chance to prove you wrong.”

And when he did, she’d know his thoughts. She’d know how much he despised the woman who claimed to be a vetter and allowed the commander’s beloved daughter to lifebond with a man who would murder her. Fiona had come to the Wiccan Haus to get away from the public’s hatred and scorn, not see it behind Armando’s beautiful smile and feel it no matter how warm and gentle his hands.
She shoved away from the table and ran for the exit.

“I didn’t mean to offend you. I meant it as a compliment,” he called after her.

The dining room quieted around her. Everyone stared. Once again, she drew the bad kind of attention. But she couldn’t stop.

Despite her desire to be a simple vetter, without real vetting powers that life could only be a lie. The truth, however, was far worse than a life of lies.

An interview with the Amnesia Bride

Cemil has agreed to interview out latest guest at the Wiccan Haus Gwen Fairfax you can read her story in Loving the Amnesia Bride by Sara Daniel

Thank you for coming to chat with us today. Why do you think Sara Daniel choose you to represent her?

*laughs* I have no idea. Maybe she had amnesia about my amnesia and forgot that I can’t remember anything!

Glad you are still laughing about this. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I woke up in the hospital a few days ago and couldn’t remember a thing about the past ten months. Apparently, I’m engaged to this total hunk who happens to be the most perfect, sensitive, patient fiancĂ© ever.

Which of the Rowans do you most connect with and why?

I feel like you get me, Cemil, so I hope you won’t be offended when I say I adore how Sage is always there for me. She’s like a best friend and a mother rolled into one, and she is always making me these weird colored shakes that somehow make me feel better.

I am not offended in the lest as you know I adore my sister Sage. Now something a bit personal to see how much if any of your memory is returning. What is your birth date?

Um, well, I don’t recall the exact date. Pull my driver’s license out of my purse. That should give you all my stats.

Yes I think it would.  Do you remember why you came to the Wiccan Haus?

That’s pretty obvious, even for the girl who can’t remember anything. I came to get my memory back and to fall in love with my fiancĂ© again.

What do you do to relax?

As far as I know—sleep, sleep, and more sleep. Hopefully, I’ll discover something more exciting while I’m at the Wiccan Haus this week.

I am certain you will now tell me about Tucker. What drew you to him?

Of course, I don’t remember what initially drew me to him, but I can guess. He’s gorgeous in that rugged “I forgot to shave again” kind of way. He’s always solicitous and thoughtful, putting my needs before his own. He has a huge passion for the environment. When he starts talking about plant life, his eyes just light up. Between you and me, I wish he’d look at me that way some time. Oh man, I shouldn’t have said that. Please, don’t put that in the interview. I just wish I knew what he saw in me that brought us together.

What’s your biggest turn on? Turn off?

How pathetic is this? I could tell you those things about Tucker, but I don’t know them about myself yet.

Not pathetic at all if you ask me, which you just did. What about your favorite ice cream flavor, chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry?

Not sure, but strawberry sounds yummy. Honestly, though, if I had my choice, I’d skip the ice cream and make a bowl of cinnamon applesauce instead.

So you tasted the famous apples on the island. I am surprised there are any left with Dana eating them by the pound or throwing them at Rekkus head. I digress, why should the readers be interested in your story?

If you’ve ever wished for a clean slate and to start your life over with no memory of the past, give this story a try and see how it’s working out of me. Or if you’ve ever wanted to wake up and have this most gorgeous, amazing guy engaged to you, this is the book for you!

Do you feel the cover accurately represents you?

The picture of me on the cover is pretty accurate. Tucker’s hair is a little longer and blonder, and of course he’s way hotter in real life, but that look on his face is a good representation of how he watches me when he doesn’t think I’m looking at him.

I think the readers should judge for themselves.

Loving the Amnesia Bride:

If she remembers the past, they won't have a future.

Gwen Fairfax awakens in a hospital, deluged by stabbing head pain and unable to remember anything about her past, especially the man who claims to be her fiancĂ©. A trip to the Wiccan Haus is her only hope to discover the woman she used to be, her mysterious dreams about a resort, and the man who’s supposedly the love of her life.

Tucker Wilde is willing to do anything to stop his stepmother’s land development schemes from ruining the natural habitat he’s dedicated his life to preserving. But he never expects he’ll have to go so far as to pretend to be engaged to the woman his brother left at the altar. He knows better than to trust anyone in cahoots with his stepmother. But he feels an overwhelming need to protect the sweet, vulnerable woman who has no one to turn to but him. Soon, he’s losing sight of the fact that the engagement isn’t real.

Gwen tempts him at every turn, hoping physical contact between them will jog her memory. If she never remembers the past, Tucker begins to believe they could make a life together. But if the Wiccan Haus delivers on healing her memory, it will destroy any hope for their future.

Quick Interview with Sarka

A blessedly quick interview with the eldest Rowan Sibling Sarka.

  • Do you sometimes want to strangle your writer? Thrash her to within an inch of her life? Make her do the stupid crap she makes you do? I have many writers and I want to curse them all. Though some more then others I suppose. Time will only tell what they have in store for me I guess.

  • Demi-cup, sports bra, or 60s freedom front? Corset actually anything more personal you would like to ask?

  • Is it true that vampires can’t have sex without blood or blood without sex? I thought I made it perfectly clear that I have no intention of speaking about Vamps or my sex life with one EVER. I suggest you bear that in mind next time.

  • Tell me a little bit about your world. The Wiccan Haus is an Island off the coast of Maine. We are a spa for healing, I personally would be happy is everyone just left us in peace. One of the few things Rekkus and I agree on. But for some strange reason helping paras and people alike seems to make Cyrus happy and there is very little I love in this world my brothers and sister are it.

NEW RELEASE Psychic Lies

Today is release day for the newest book in the Wiccan Haus series, Psychic Lies by Sara Daniel. http://musapublishing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=430 To celebrate, Sara loaned us the book’s hero Armando Verdad for a few quick questions. Thank you for coming to chat with us today, Armando. Why do you think Sara Daniel choose you to represent her?

I don’t know why she wants me here. But as the head of the Department of Truth-Finding for Syndicate (which is the government of the paranormal world for you humans out there), I can’t afford to pass up any positive coverage to boost my department’s image right now.

Is the man on the cover of Psychic Lies a fair representation of you?
The man is definitely me, and the picture of the lake behind me is very nice, as well. But cover itself is rather embarrassing. I’m the head of a government department. I need to be portrayed professionally, wearing my overcoat…or, at the very least, have my shirt buttoned.

The Wiccan Haus: Psychic Lies
Fiona must keep her ability to read minds during sex a secret from those determined to exploit her, especially a sexy truth-finding investigator who needs her psychic power to save his job.

Blurb:
Fiona has spent her life hiding her sexual mind-reading power at the risk of being exploited by the government. Instead, she pretends to have lifebond vetting powers like the rest of her family. When her fake power results in the death of an innocent woman, her life of lies unravels and she retreats to the Wiccan Haus.

Armando is the head of the Department of Truth-Finding for the Syndicate. To prove his unit’s worth to the government, he follows Fiona to the Wiccan Haus to expose her as an infiltrator of an enemy faction. The truth about Fiona is even more valuable to his people and his career.

Fiona uses her power to seduce Armando and stop his plans to betray her. But nothing is strong enough to keep her from falling in love with this man whose power threatens to destroy her. Now she must trust him, not only with her life and her psychic lies, but also her heart.

Excerpt:
Fiona dropped her fork. How could her soul have picked a man like this for her mate? The Fates played cruel jokes, and once again they’d come at her expense. “The Vetter was just trying her best.”

“Her best to do what?” Armando demanded, gripping her arm a bit tighter.

“To be a Vetter.” By the Goddess, she’d tried so hard. Her failure had cost an innocent woman her life.

He rubbed his hand along her arm, his face breaking into a smile again. “You know, I believe you’re right.”

A fat lot of good that did for Lizbet. She looked down at his hand on her arm. “Why are you always touching me?” She didn’t know him well enough to warrant the constant contact, but she enjoyed his touch. She didn’t deserve to enjoy anything.

He smiled wider. “I can’t stop myself from touching you, Fiona. You feel the connection too, don’t you?”

She hated that her soul wanted to claim a man who scorned anyone who didn’t use their powers for the greater good. Denying her true powers was the entire foundation of her life. “I’m actually not a tactile person.”

That was such a big lie she couldn’t look him in the eye. Not a tactile person. All her powers were concentrated in the most intimate tactile experience possible.

His grin split even wider. “I’d love the chance to prove you wrong.”

And when he did, she’d know what he was thinking. She’d know how much he despised the woman who claimed to be a Vetter and allowed the Commander’s beloved daughter to lifebond with a man who ended up murdering her. Fiona had come to the Wiccan Haus to get away from the public’s hatred and scorn, not see it behind this man’s beautiful smile and feel it no matter how warm and gentle his hands.

She shoved away from the table and ran for the exit.

“What’s wrong? That was supposed to be a compliment,” Armando called after her.

The dining room quieted around her. Everyone stared. Once again, she was drawing attention and making a fool of herself. But she couldn’t stop.

All she’d ever wanted was to be a simple Vetter with real vetting powers. But that life was a lie. The truth, however, was far worse than a life of lies.
