Sorcerer’s Legacy by Carolyn Spear
Sorcerer’s
Legacy by Carolyn Spear

Librarian Rebecca Jones
has always found solace in books. The death of her grandmother leaves her alone
in the world. An inherited old Welsh scroll renews her desire to find the
father she never knew. She hopes fairytale Wiccan Haus will yield the answers she
needs.
Descendent of the
inspiration for the Merlin legend, Ian Branson lives with the responsibility of
protecting humans and paranormal beings. He takes an impromptu vacation with
the Rowans of Wiccan Haus, seeking healing for his out of control psychic
abilities.
As soon as Ian meets
Becca, he feels the pull of his soulmate. Love has no place in his life but he
cannot deny the peace only she can provide. Becca finds her Welsh knight in
shining armor to translate her scroll but passion tempts her from her quest to
find her father.
As their relationship
blooms, Ian fears putting another loved one in jeopardy. A tryst isn’t enough
but Ian’s charmed solution goes awry.
With his emotions into a tailspin, he is forced to sacrifice his pride
and ask the formidable eldest Rowan for help.
Will Sarka’s magic
reverse the sorcerer’s spell and will Becca accept Ian’s legacy and her own?
From
his Richard Gere hair to his stern clean-shaven jaw, he was model material. His
eyes, soft green like a mist-covered glade, penetrated straight to her soul.
Ian posed a danger to her heart, no matter how he charged her body.
Remember
what Grandma always said. “Think with your logical brain,
not with your romantic heart. Love does not put food in your mouth or a roof
over your head.”
Or
decipher an ancient Welsh text.
“What
can I do?” she asked as she stood, having nothing to do.
He
rose from where he’d prepared the fire pit and walked to her, extending his
hand. After a moment, she took it and stood beside him.
“Nothing.
It’s done. Are you ready?”
“For
what?” Truly, the limits of reality had been shattered and anything seemed possible.
“For
magick.”
Welcome
to Wiccan Haus. I know you’ll love this series as much as I do. It is a world
of possibilities, an escape from our daily realities. An island with shifters,
witches, and all manner of paranormal beings, there’s mystery and magic around
every bend, in each encounter.
I’m
Carolyn Spear, mother of two sweet girls and wife of one fabulous husband.
Reading, gardening and exploring are my passions. I don’t really “write” but
rather channel my characters' stories to share with others. A strange
combination of small town girl, travel enthusiast and geek, I am thrilled to be
a part of the shared world of the Wiccan Haus.
For
Becca’s personality, I channeled by inner child. I still believe in magic and
knights in shining armor. She gets a little more than she bargains for at
Wiccan Haus. Wizards and werewolves and vampires, oh my!
Ian
Branson is an older than usual hero, but I like my heroes a little more
experienced. A little uptight and a little supercilious, he is surprised at the
feral passion Becca unlocks in him. He has to deal with all the emotions he
keeps under lock and key to function. I think he exemplifies many of us who
function more than live. And it’s a Merlin inspired tale, who I’ve always felt
got a raw deal at the end of his life so I wrote him a different ending.

Character Interview with Armando Verdad of Psychic Lies
Character
Interview with Armando Verdad of Psychic Lies
Today, I would like to welcome
Armando Verdad, hero of Psychic Lies.
Thank you for coming to chat with us today, Armando. Why do you think Sara
Daniel choose you to represent her?
As
the head of the Department of Truth-Finding for Syndicate (which is the
government of the paranormal world for you humans out there), I am
well-qualified to articulate myself. And honestly, I can’t afford to pass up
any positive coverage to boost my department’s image right now.
Tell us a little about yourself?
As
you might have figured out, I have the truth-finding power. This means when I
touch a person who is speaking, their words mentally play back in my head
followed by the word “truth” or “lie.” If the person speaks a sentence that is
half truth and half lie, my power will break it into parts so I know exactly
what part is truth and which is a lie. This makes me a very useful investigator
for the government in solving crimes and ferreting out those who aim to deceive
our honest citizens.
What do you wish people would
know about you?
I
wish people understood how much I want to use my power for the greater good of
keeping the Syndicate safe. It’s true that I don’t have Cyrus’s amazing
retro-cog power, but I can still make a difference, and I intend to prove it by
cracking this high-profile murder case before the police do. I’m following the
victim’s lifebond vetter to the Wiccan Haus. She’s definitely hiding something,
and I’m going to figure out exactly what and bring her to justice.
I get the feeling you don’t
believe you’re portrayed fairly in the media?
I
have a problem with everyone believing the Department of Truth-Finding is not
capable of solving crimes and protecting the Syndicate. Everyone constantly
wants to compare me to Cyrus. It’s very frustrating to continually come up
short.
What really pushes your buttons?
People
not telling the truth, obviously. But aside from the big lies to cover up evil
intentions, I don’t understand why people lie about insignificant things that
don’t matter either way. How do I know which lies are worth digging into when
everything that comes out of a person’s mouth is a lie?
Sounds like you need to relax a
bit. Any ideas on how to go about that?
Well,
if I’m lucky enough to have a woman to relax with, I enjoy a picnic with some
exotic fruit, a variety of cheeses and a fine white wine. I’m not opposed to
finishing the meal off with a nice massage or a swim in the lake (clothing
*ah-hem* optional), but ultimately it’s whatever the lady wants. If she’s
happy, then I’m relaxed.
What is your biggest fear?
My
biggest fear is the Syndicate dissolving the Department of Truth Finding, so
I’ll be forced to use my power to investigate cheating spouses and petty
concerns. How does that serve the greater good?
Thank you, Armando, for dropping
by to talk with us today. I hope your trip to the Wiccan Haus gives you the
answers you’re looking for.

Psychic
Lies
What if you could read minds
during sex? What if the government wanted to exploit you for your ability?
Fiona
Vetter has spent her life hiding her sexual mind-reading power, pretending to
have normal, safe powers like the rest of her family. When her charade results
in the death of an innocent woman, her life of lies unravels. With nowhere else
to turn, she retreats to the Wiccan Haus.
To
expose her as an enemy of his government, Armando Verdad follows Fiona to the
Wiccan Haus. Her beauty dazzles him, her personality seduces him, and her web
of lies intrigues him. But with his career and the safety of his countrymen on
the line, only the truth matters.
The
harder Fiona tries to keep Armando away, the more she falls for him. When
enemies come searching for her, she is forced to trust him to protect her life
and her psychic lies, but nothing can protect her heart.
Fiona
dropped her fork. How could her soul have picked him for her mate? The Fates
played cruel jokes, and, once again, they did so at her expense. “The vetter
was trying her best.”
“Her
best to do what?” He gripped her arm a bit tighter.
“To
be a vetter.” By the Goddess, she’d tried so hard. Her failure had cost an
innocent woman her life.
He
rubbed his hand along her arm, his face breaking into a smile again. “You know,
I believe you’re right.”
A
fat lot of good that did for Lizbet. She dropped her gaze to his hand. “Why are
you always touching me?” She didn’t know him well enough to warrant the
constant contact, but pleasure sizzled under her skin at his touch. She didn’t
deserve to enjoy anything.
He
smiled wider. “I can’t stop myself. You feel the connection, don’t you?”
She
couldn’t have a connection to a man who scorned people who didn’t use their
powers for the greater good, not when she’d built the foundation of her life on
denying her true powers. “I’m actually not a tactile person.”
After
speaking such a big lie, she couldn’t continue to look him in the eye, not with
all her powers concentrated in the most intimate tactile experience possible.
His
grin split wider. “I’d love the chance to prove you wrong.”
And
when he did, she’d know his thoughts. She’d know how much he despised the woman
who claimed to be a vetter and allowed the commander’s beloved daughter to
lifebond with a man who would murder her. Fiona had come to the Wiccan Haus to
get away from the public’s hatred and scorn, not see it behind Armando’s
beautiful smile and feel it no matter how warm and gentle his hands.
She
shoved away from the table and ran for the exit.
“I
didn’t mean to offend you. I meant it as a compliment,” he called after her.
The
dining room quieted around her. Everyone stared. Once again, she drew the bad
kind of attention. But she couldn’t stop.
Despite
her desire to be a simple vetter, without real vetting powers that life could
only be a lie. The truth, however, was far worse than a life of lies.

A Bride Worth Fighting For by Sara Daniel
If she remembers the past, they
won’t have a future.
Gwen Fairfax awakens in a hospital, deluged by stabbing head pain
and unable to remember anything about her past, especially the man who claims
to be her fiancé. A trip to the Wiccan Haus is her only hope to discover the
woman she used to be, understand her mysterious dreams about a resort, and fall
in love with the man she’s supposed to marry.
To stop his stepmother’s land
development schemes from ruining the natural habitat he’s dedicated his life to
preserving, Tucker Wilde is willing to do anything, even pretend to be engaged
to the woman his brother left at the altar. But he isn’t prepared for the sweet,
vulnerable woman to tempt him at every turn until he longs to give in to the
temptation.
The more Gwen gets to know Tucker,
the more she’s certain he’s a man worth remembering. But if the Wiccan Haus
heals her memory, he’ll have to fight to keep his bride.
Excerpt:
“This week is for you, Gwen, not me.”
She shook her head as they stepped into the elevator. “It’s
for both of us. Just because you’re helping me get my memory back doesn’t mean
you should have any less of a vacation.”
If he wasn’t enjoying himself, why would he want to share
his life with her? Up until dinner, his complete focus had been on her, but his
eyes didn’t shine when he looked at her the way they did when he talked about
his conservation efforts.
Just because they were engaged didn’t mean their
relationship had been perfect before she’d lost her memory. By paying attention
to what he loved, she could strengthen their bond or discover if they were
right for each other at all.
As the elevator crawled upward, she glanced at him, unable
to believe he wasn’t right for her. Not only was she comfortable with him,
their chemistry compounded with every passing moment. The real question was if
she fit with him, but she didn’t know herself well enough to answer.
The elevator doors opened, and Tucker placed his palm
against her back as they exited. A few steps later, they stopped in front of
her room. “This is you,” he said.
“Yeah.” Now what? She had no idea how to wrap up the evening
and no past experience to fall back on. “Would you like to come in for a cup of
coffee?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Is that a euphemism for something
else?”
Oh gosh. She might not have a memory, but she understood
what she’d implied. She forced a laugh to cover her embarrassment and deflect
the sex offer she definitely wasn’t ready for him to take her up on.
“Apparently, you’ve gotten engaged to a clichéd and trite woman. I fell asleep
so fast earlier, I didn’t notice if the room had a coffee pot.”
His lips twitched. “I would never get engaged to a cliché.
Don’t sell yourself short.”
She rubbed her temples. If he’d been attracted to something
unique and special about her, she’d like a clue what that thing might be. She
enjoyed getting reacquainted with him, but getting to know herself proved far
more unsettling. “Okay, no coffee and no euphemistic coffee. Uh, good night?”
“A goodnight kiss?” he suggested.
She dropped her gaze to his full pink lips. How many times
had those lips kissed hers before? She wanted to remember, but she couldn’t
handle the intimacy of a full, deep kiss when who she was remained elusive.
Rising on her tiptoes, she brushed her lips over his cheek,
scratchy with his customary beard stubble. The touch warmed her, inviting her
to linger and explore his face. Instead, she pulled away.
